Student Representation Fee
In accordance with , all students who register on or after January 1, 2020 are charged the $2 Student Representation Fee. Each fee collected supports student representation before city, county, state and/or federal government. The Student Representation Fee cannot be used to support individual candidates or campaigns.
Where does the $2 go? What is the fee used for?
Each fee collected is divided between the Associated Student Government (ASG) of Â鶹ӰÒôapp and the recognized statewide community college student organization, Student Senate of the California Community Colleges (SSCCC). One dollar ($1) of every two-dollar ($2) fee collected shall be expended to establish and support the operations of a statewide community college student organization, recognized by the Board of Governors of the California Community Colleges, with effective student representation and participation in state-level community college shared governance and with governmental affairs representatives to advocate before the Legislature and other state and local governmental entities.
One dollar ($1) of every two-dollar fee collected will be expended solely through the Associated Student Government of Â鶹ӰÒôapp to provide support for governmental affairs representatives of local or statewide student body organizations who may be stating their positions and viewpoints before city, county, state and/or federal government. Essentially, the funds could be used by ASG in order to provide necessary training and access to opportunities to represent Â鶹ӰÒôapp students, including but not limited to:
- Attending legislative activities like the SSCCC General Assembly
- Visiting the offices of local and state elected officials
- Training ASG representatives to effectively participate in these processes
This fee is separate from the current Student Activities Fee, which supports services and provides benefits to Â鶹ӰÒôapp students, such as free or discounted admission to ASG-sponsored events, access exclusive ASG promotional items, and free entry to all Tartar Athletic home events.
